Mæsh

Mæsh is a concept for drums and live visuals, trying to extend and combine the language of experimental music, improvisation and beat music, as well as blending sonic aspects with audioreactive visuals.

Mæsh as a project tries to connect many worlds and aesthetics starting with the auditory and the visual. The code that generates the audioreactive visuals lies at the core of the project. It translates what it “hears” directly to something, that we can see and creates a new experience of the music by showing it on a new dimension, the music can literally be seen. However, the dialogue is not only working in one way, as the visual aspect is also affecting the sound, by affecting the players itself, but also the live electronics. It is a constant conversation between musicians, listening and seeing, but also the machines that generate the visuals and electronics, are listening and seeing. This connection and especially the research between the visual and the auditory realm, as well as its flexibility, working both as a solo project and together with other musicians is what to me is very interesting about the project and makes the project alive and everchanging.
